Kakrapar Atomic Power Plant-3 goes trending in India on Twitter
On Wednesday, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi congratulated the nuclear scientists and researchers at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station at Gujarat as Kakrapar Atomic Power Plant-3 achieves criticality, which means it can now continuously undergo nuclear chain reaction and generate energy.
The 700 MW power plant at Kakrapar in Gujarat achieved criticality, means it has reached the normal operating condition of a reactor in which the nuclear fuel sustains the nuclear chain reaction. It indicates that the power plant is now set to generate power.
Kakrapar Atomic Power Station is a nuclear power station in India, which lies in the proximity of the city of Vyara in the state of Gujarat. It consists of two 220 MW pressurized water reactor with heavy water as moderator (PHWR).
PM Modi congratulated scientists for achieving criticality and calls it a perfect shinning example of Make in India project. He also calls it as a trailblazer for many such future achievements. This gives a sign of hope to India’s growth as the leader possess a great vision.
Congratulations to our nuclear scientists for achieving criticality of Kakrapar Atomic Power Plant-3! This indigenously designed 700 MWe KAPP-3 reactor is a shining example of Make in India. And a trailblazer for many such future achievements!
